韓国の伝統芸能の「語り手（イヤギクン）」を現代の舞台に召喚した一人芝居。語り手（イヤギクン）とは、観客と絶えずコミュニケーションを取り、いっしょに物語を紡いでいく韓国の伝統芸能の担い手のことだ。その特徴を生かし、この舞台では観客が声を上げられ、役割が与えられることで「共同創作者」となり、語り手（イヤギクン）とともに舞台を完成させる。

舞台は韓国で広く知られている昔話「屁こき屋のお嫁さん」(おならのせいで家を追い出されたが、そのおならのおかげで高いところに実った果物を採り、お金持ちになるというお話)がベースになっている。主人公「イ・ポンスン」はおならをしてはならない星の住人だが、自由を求めて脱出を試みる。原作のユーモアを生かしながらも、人の本性を抑圧する社会に立ち向かい、真の自由を追い求めて旅立つ女性の物語を面白く再構成している。

本作ではおならというユーモラスな題材で、社会的圧力に立ち向かう愉快な風刺を体験することができる。アメリカの「NEW YORK THEATER FESTIVAL」の一人芝居部門、ハリウッド・フリンジ・フェスティバルに正式に招待されるなど、海外でもその独創性が認められている。

大田は便利な交通網とともに、レベルの高い文化芸術を堪能できる都市だ。全国最大規模の都心緑地空間であるハンバッ樹木園を中心に、大田市立美術館、大田芸術の殿堂、李応魯美術館、大田市立燕亭国楽院など、主要文化施設が密集しており、芸術と自然を一緒に楽しむのに適している。

中でも1981年に設立された大田市立燕亭国楽院は、韓国初の自治体所属の国楽専用公演場で、韓国の伝統音楽と舞踊を体系的に保存・発展させるために努めている。演奏団、声楽団、舞踊団で構成された国楽団は、宮廷音楽、民俗舞踊、国楽の管弦楽など、伝統芸術の多様なジャンルをクリエイティブに再解釈し、観客に深い感動を与えている。
